My son has adenoids since long. He is 10 years old now. He has stuffy nose, sneezes at times and sleeps with mouth open. Please let me know in what case the surgery becomes important. Also, at this age what should we be doing for him. Would they go itself. And can the enlarged adenoids harm him.

Go for surgery .it will regress if the size of adenoid is small. If they persist there may be change in facial appereance.

Go for the surgery. Surgery will totally stop his frequent episodes of stuffy nose. Surgery becomes important as he is breathing with theopen mouth which is not natural and results in frequent drying and infections of the nose and throat. Yes enlarged adenoids will harm him by blocking both the ears in the future leading to difficulty in hearing.
