Inflammation of the blood vessels in the nose causes congestion in the nose which is called stuffy nose. Sinus infection, common cold, flu, hay fever, deviated septum and drug addiction are likely causes for stuffy nose. Inhaling steam, using a humidifier, saline sprays, decongestants and antihistamines can be used to treat stuffy nose. Allergic triggers can also cause stuffy nose. Identifying these triggers and treating them accordingly is part of the treatment process.
