Hello, I have been suffering from Alcoholic fatty liver from past one year, now I have improved from Fibroscan score of 7.2 to 3.5 after keeping Alcohol away and lost weight through diet. My doctor has prescribed Nexpro L and have been using it since starting of my treatment for GERD. My question is whether Esomeprazole (Nexpro L) causes liver damage? And is it safe to use Esomeprazole for so long?

Once your GERD becomes better and your digestion is fine- tuned, the medication can be stopped. Keep regular followup and do the tests regularly to ensure that the liver is healthy. The tablets do not cause any problem if taken under the guidance of the doctor. Also take care of your overall lifestyle. This includes avoiding all types if junk food, bakery products, processed and packaged food. Try to have more of natural (organic foods) and freshly prepared home made food. Avoid tobacco and alcohol. Learn yoga and keep your routine exercise. Take sufficient rest (sleep for 6-8 hrs everyday) so that body stays energetic throughout the day.
