Is excessively drinking water harmful to our body? If I drink then what will happens?

One should drink as per the thirst. So ideally a person may require 8-10 glasses of water. The need may higher if a person sweats a lot and physically active or exposed to heat. Its not advised to drink lots of water (above 3-4 litres of water as it is not needed and passes out as urine along with other minerals which may not be good.)
