A form of skin cancer, Squamous Cell Carcinoma is an abnormal growth of squamous cells that occur on the epidermis layer of the skin. The symptoms are open sores, red crusty or flaky patches and warts. Exposure to UV radiation from the sun is the major cause for this cancer. The treatments are surgery and radiation therapy. If left untreated, it can spread to the internal organs.
