Nipple problems are usually not serious and include pus discharge, intermittent pain and itching sensations in and around the nipple area, in both men and women. A very common nipple problem however affects women after pregnancy when swollen mammary glands continue to discharge a milky white fluid even after the weaning period. Other causes may be environmental allergens and internal problems like hypothyroidism, non cancerous tumors etc. Antibiotics are usually administered to soothe the irritations.
HOW IS NIPPLE PROBLEMS DIAGNOSED?
A thyroid hormone test and CT scan is advisable for nipple problems and discharge without cessation.
