A non-contagious chronic illness that harms skin and causes damage to the nerves in the arms and legs is known as 'Leprosy'. It is only after 3-5 years that the symptoms appear in a person coming in contact with the bacteria which causes leprosy. Skin lesions, sores, muscle weakness and numbness in the hands, arms, feet or legs are the common symptoms associated with this condition.
