A constant pattern of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity which is severe and frequent is called Hyperkinetic disorder. Other symptoms include lack of concentration, distractibility, irritability and poor school works. Diagnosing this disorder in children under age 5 is difficult. Behavior therapy is a method used to effectively treat this disorder. Multiple genetic, neurobiological and environmental risk factors are associated with the development of this heterogeneous disorder.
HOW IS HYPERKINETIC DISORDER DIAGNOSED?
Children suffering from the condition can be observed to be forgetful, distracted, disorganised and unable to concentrate or focus.
