A mixed mechanism comprising of neuropathic, ischemic and inflammatory pains at various sites of the body can lead to cancer pain. Cancer pain can be long lasting or transitory in nature. Tumor pressing against the bones or nerves or other organs within the body could be the cause of this problem. The cause of acute pain would be injury to the nerve and in case of a chronic condition the pain may last long after the injury. Both drug and non-drug treatment are used to treat the pain.
HOW IS CANCER PAIN DIAGNOSED?
Having cancer does not necessarily mean a person would experience pain.
