By now you must have started treatment with thyroxine tablets in dosage as advised by your doctor. Foods to be avoided in hypothyroidism are soya beans, corn, canola, saffllower, flax seed & canola oil, cauliflower, cabbage, tapioca, mustard, peanuts, rapseeds, turnip, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, eggs red meat, pears, strawberries, peaches etc.
You should take iodised salt, sea foods, salt water fish, celtic sea salt, whole unrefined grains, dairy products, garlic & onions.

Mr. Lybrate-user, sugar is a form of carbohydrate known as disaccharride, which two molecules mono saccharride glucose + fructose. All other foods that we eat like rice, roti, chapati, potato, banana, sweet potato, tapioca, other grains (cereals) all contain starch, which on digestion give maltose (disaccharride) then glucose. So whether you eat sugar or not we get enough glucose in our food. There is no compultion mentioned about consuming sugar. Thanks.

He is suffering from end stage liver disease-cirrhosis. Diet needs to very restrictive. Diet high in simple carbohydrates- sago, arrowroot, tapioca, yam, potato, sweet potato, jaggery, honey, sugar, rice; low in protein (all vegetarian protein - no non veg, little curd & pulse can be given), very low fat (only medium chain triglycerides), stewed fruits, soups should be given. If you are taking too much calories and walking for an hour or half, then it will not work for you. So you have to take care of that.
