What are the home remedies for vaginal itching and burning?

Vaginal itching is a common problem that every woman faces in her lifetimeItching, burning or irritation in the sensitive area can be extremely uncomfortable.     Use this mixture to wash your vagina frequently or at least twice a day. You can even add a drop of honey to this mixture and drink it twice daily.

  2. Cold Compress:

    Cold Compress can be the best remedy to get instant relief from vaginal itching. To use this place a few ice cubes in a clean cloth and make a small bundle. Now put this pack on your vagina for a few seconds and remove it. Once again place it for a few seconds and remove it.

    Repeat this procedure about 8 to 10 times or till the itching stops. You can even use cold water if you do not want to use ice packs.

  3. Salt Water Bath:

    Salt-water baths can be beneficial in relieving vaginal itching. Salt can control the spread of microbes and can reduce the infections drastically caused by it.

    To make it add a tablespoon of salt to a glass of water and you can use it to wash your vagina. You can use it twice a day for better results. However, do not use it if you have open sores or skin tears.

  4. Apply yoghurt and honey:

    Yoghurt and honey Also help to treat yeast infection. Yoghurt is a type of probiotics so it helps to promote the growth of good bacteria in the vagina. You can directly apply yoghurt and honey mixture near the affected area.

  5. Coconut oil:

    As per the studies conducted, coconut oil has also shown to kill the candida Albicans, fungi which are responsible for causing vaginal infection. You can directly apply coconut oil to the affected area.

  6. Baking soda:

    Baking soda possesses antifungal properties and due to its alkaline nature, it helps to fight against yeast infection. You can take a baking soda bath for 20-25 minutes to prevent itching.

  7. Oatmeal bath:

    Sometimes vaginal itching may be due to dryness of the skin. An oatmeal bath can help to soothe the skin and prevent itching.

  8. Cotton underwear:

    Cotton underwear promotes the passage of air and keeps the vaginal area dry which prevents the growth If fungi as fungi can only grow in wet and damp areas.

The cloth or the container that you use for cold press must be sanitized as well, before and after using. Though side effects are minimal, it is better to be safe than sorry, since these remedies target a sensitive area.

  • Make sure that you don't expose yourself to excessively dry or extremely humid climates right after such home remedies.
  • Whenever you step out make sure you are wearing loose cotton inner-wear.
  • Always drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.

  • Cleaning your vagina with a mild and clinically proven lotion can keep the area hygienic.
  • You should also wear only clean underwear and change it every day.
