What are the best home remedies for dry skin?

When your skin becomes too dry, it results in flakiness, scaling, itching, and cracking. Some natural home remedies for dry skin are:

  1. Honey and rose water:

Honey is a natural humectant that locks moisture in your skin and it’s a good anti-inflammatory agent which reduces the harshness of your dry skin.

Description: Add a few drops of rose water into 1 tablespoon of honey and apply the lotion on your dry skin cells and leave it for the entire night. In the morning wash it off with cold water.

  2. Yogurt:

Yogurt is a natural skin exfoliator. It exfoliates and moisturizes your dry skin to make it soft and smooth naturally.

Description:Make a paste with a 1/4th cup of unflavoured yogurt, 2-3 tablespoons of sugar, and honey. Stir well until they all are mixed evenly. Massage the paste on your affected skin for a few minutes and leave it for 5 to 10 mins before washing it off. Use the natural scrub once a week.

  3. Almond Oil:

Almond oil is moisturising in nature that prevents evaporation of moisture from your skin thereby making it smooth and soft.

Description: In a clean bottle mix 20-30 ml of almond oil and 2-3 drops of geranium essential oil and use this solution regularly for better results and to get rid of dry skin.

  4. Aloe vera:

Aloe vera gel increases the skin hydration and locks in moisture. You can directly apply aloe vera gel in the dry region and leave it overnight so that it can get absorbed in the skin and reduces dryness.

  5. Oatmeal bath:

Oatmeal helps to reduce the itching and dryness of skin by locking the moisture in. Oatmeal is also effective for the skin as it contains antioxidants. It also shows anti-inflammatory properties.

  6. Drink milk:

Milk contains fats known as phospholipids that are responsible for reducing the skin dryness. Add milk to your diet.

  7. Sunflower seed oil:

  9. Gloves:

Gloves help to protect the skin of hands from hard detergent and dish wash soap. It's highly recommended to wear gloves while you are washing utensils or doing any work which requires your hand to be put in water for long periods. Keep your body well hydrated by drinking sufficient water and fruit juices.
