What is the remedy about?

When your skin becomes too dry, it results in flakiness, scaling, itching and cracking. Some home remedies for dry skin are -

1. Honey and rose water: Honey is a natural humectant that locks moisture in your skin and it’s a good anti-inflammatory agent which reduces the harshness of your dry skin. Description: Add few drops of rose water into 1 tablespoon of honey and apply the lotion on your dry skin cells and leave it for the entire night. In the morning wash it off with cold water. 2. Yogurt: Yogurt is a natural skin exfoliator. It exfoliates and moisturises your dry skin to make it soft and smooth naturally. Description: Make a paste with a 1/4th cup of unflavoured yogurt, 2-3 tablespoons of sugar and honey. Stir well until they all are mixed evenly. Massage the paste on your affected skin for few minutes and leave it for 5 to 10 mins before washing it off. Use the natural scrub once in a week. 3. Almond Oil: Almond oil is moisturising in nature that prevents evaporation of moisture from your skin thereby making it smooth and soft. Description: In a clean bottle mix 20-30 ml of almond oil and 2-3 drops of geranium essential oil and use this solution regularly to get better results. 4. Keep your body well hydrated by drinking sufficient water and fruit juices.

Are there any side effects?

In rare case some people are sensitive towards almond oil and may suffer from allergic reactions that include rashes, itchiness and difficulty in breathing. Those who are lactose intolerant may suffer from allergies and rashes in rare cases on the application of yogurt.

What are the post-remedy guidelines?

Try to use luke warm water instead of hot water while taking your bath. Don’t use facewash and soap which contains harsh chemicals. Use herbal face wash and mild soaps. Moisturise your skin after you take your shower and before going to bed at night. Coconut oil is a very good moisturiser, you can use this on your rough skin. Restrict your shower time to 10-15 minutes. Don’t rub your skin vigorously with towel or cloth.

How long does it take to recover?

These home remedies to prevent dry skin is quite effective and you can feel a differentiable improvement in your skin quality only after 2-3 days of your practice.

Are the results of the remedy permanent?

If you sincerely and patiently follow the remedies and the post-remedial guidelines then it is possible to get a long-term or even permanent cure from your dry skin problem.

Is there any training or experts required?

These remedies are completely natural and doesn’t involve any chemical or inorganic substances. So an expert’s guidance is not required to adopt any of these home remedies to treat your dry skin problem.
