For sports injury, it is better to join physiotherapy sessions if the condition is severe. As you are mentioning severe pain, along with exercises, you need to apply some good medications locally for reducing inflammation which is important. If there is vitamin d deficiency and calcium deficiency, there are chances of getting severe pain. So, you take a right decision on it.
