Goodevening mam yes I ahve understood your question. Firstly you must start with a couple of isometric exercises for your knee. Place a towel while lying down under your knee and press it down till about 10 seconds and then release. Then you should raise your leg upto 45 degerees and hold for 10 seconds. Secondly do active knee bending and straightening of knee while in sitting position.
Do these exercises every day twice. Please let me know how your feeling.

Follow these dos and don’ts to help your knees feel their best.
1. Don’t rest too much. Too much rest can weaken your muscles, which can worsen joint pain. Find an exercise program that is safe for your knees and stick with it. If you're not sure which motions are safe or how much you can do, talk with your doctor or a physical therapist.
2. Do exercise. Cardio exercises strengthen the muscles that support your knee and increase flexibility. Weight training and stretching do, too. Fo...more

Hi I met with an accident on april 2016. I injured my knee and foot in the process. I neglected it as a small injury. With each day progressing I started to experience more pain. My knee used to pain and my foot used to pain. I used to get cramps on my thighs. I sensed weakness totally on my legs. I consulted a doctor. The doctor advised me for a MRI scan. After seeing the report the doctor told me that I have a minor dislocation of bones near my knee due to patellar injury and I am suffering from chondromalacia patella grade 3.he advice me to a vitamin d test. By seeing the report he told me I have vitamin d deficiency and prescribed me cholecalciferol and some leg exercises. I am still not satisfied with diagnosis. The pain hasn't had vanished. I feel like a prick piercing from inside of my knee when I walk. I am confused. Please suggest me how can I recover completely Regards.

Avoid sitting Cross legged.
Avoid Squatting-
Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, t...more

Lie down with one leg bent at a 90-degree angle with the foot flat on the floor and the other leg fully extended. Tighten the quadriceps (thigh muscle) of the straight leg and raise it to a 45-degree angle. Hold the leg in this elevated position for a second or two before slowly lowering it back to the ground.
You may require 4-6 weeks of physical therapy treatment, and then several more months of a home stretching and strengthening program to treat your chondromalacia patella. Getting the p...more

I was regularly doing jogging/brisk walk of 6-8 KM every day. Three years back in January 2015 pain started in my both knees. I consulted an orthopedic, he told me that pain is because of excess strain on your knees & he gave me some pain killer & told me to stop jogging/brisk walk immediately & take rest for 3 months. I did as he told but there was no improvement. Then I visited another orthopedic, he also said the same thing. Now its more than 3 years & I am not doing jogging/brisk walk or any other physical activities. But still, my knees are paining. Some days back I had gone for MRI of both knees to know the actual problem. When I showed the report to the doctor he recommended me laparoscopic surgery. The problem found in left knee was: IMPRESSION: Early degenerative changes as focal chondromalacia femur, tiny osteophyte, a gynaecologist change posterior to the knee joint. Sprain anterior cruciate ligament Borderline patella alta Minimal joint effusion Degenerative medial meniscus. The problem found in Right Knee was: IMPRESSION: Early degenerative changes as tiny osteophyte and reduced joint space. Degenerative medial meniscus. Borderline patella alta. Now my questions are. 1 Can this problem solve with medicine or I have to go for surgery? 2 If the only solution is laparoscopic surgery Can all the problems cure by surgery? 3 My knees will become 100% perfect after this surgery & can I again start jogging /brisk walk after surgery? 4 What are the side effects of surgery? 5 For how long I have to be admitted to hospital & post surgery how long I have to take rest? Thanks.

Hi Lybrate user lets first take non surgical treatment like physiotherapy to manage yours progression of the disease till 5 month if non surgical treatment fail then surgical treatment is the last option for you. After surgery again get back to physiotherapist to improve range of motion of joint and maintain flexiblity and pain free movement .he will guide you to strengthen you muscles around the knee joint and improves muscles tone also.
