Hi lybrate user to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectar...more

Looks like your five year old has never been weaned properly from milk to regular home food T the right time. He is now a big boy and you must set some basic ground rules for feeding. You'll have to stop snacks, set times for 3 major meals and not give more than 500 ml of milk per day. Making meals interesting, offering variations and involving child in food discussion and preparation as a play activity will help to change your faulty feeding patterns.

Hi lybrate-user,
you need to follow a healthy diet along with some strength training exercises to build muscle mass. More the muscle mass, lesser will be your body fat. -also, include foods which are low in glycemic index (rate at which a food or carbohydrate increase your sugar levels post consumption). E.g. Have slow carbs like whole grains- millets like bajra, jowar, nachni, brown rice, and also buckwheat, oats. Have veggies and salads in all your meals, whole fruits as a snack.

Hye.
Food planning will depend on the amount of proteins that you need for the day.
To decide the proteins, other nutrients many parameters need to be considered.
This requires personalised planning. You don't want to end up eating low amounts of protein too.
Cornflakes is not low protein, neither is it low sodium or potassium as well. You might want to skip packaged foods.
