It is normal to feel like that. However you can give mild hot water fermentation in and around the operated knee. Do not pour water into the operated site. You need to do knee rehabilitation for next 6 -8 weeks for you to get back to normalcy. Until then you cannot get back to sports.

I had a partial tear of my acl in 2013, we immobilise the knee for about 6 weeks and got back to normal, I had a jump in 2017 where I tore the acl completely and underwent a surgery in 2017. Now, I have discomfort while running or squatting (with or without weights), I haven't been putting pressure on my knee from the past 4 months. I have been strengthening my hamstring, calf and hips during this time. I am willing to to whatever it takes to have my knee back in form. I have looked at stem call regeneration, chiropractic, osteopathy and physiotherapy, also tried asking an opinion from an orthopedic surgeon. Everyone is against the surgery and they support their services. And, the orthopedic surgeon suggests revision of the laxity of my acl graft and repair of the radial tear on the lateral meniscus as seen on the latest mri. I want to train myself and eventually run full marathons. I have been an athlete all my life and I feel purposeless with my current position. Please help! 25 years m.

Yes Mr. lybrate-user, I have earlier suggested you strongly only one thing ie. Knee rehabilitation. If there is a possibility you can come to chennai for a month and you can get it done at our place. Let us know. Or else I can suggest you a good orthopaedic doctor at our place in chennai.

Knee ligament laxity if you have problem in your legs then it might be due to ligament laxity where your legs would become very weak due to the old ligament injury and that should be treated immediately. Wear knee cap so that you will feel firm while walking or climbing stairs.
This is a general strain and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists ...more

Hello lybrate-user, your brother will not suffer from any withdrawal effects. But he should avoid taking tramadol for longer duration. He can take other painkillers. Yes he can take panadol as alternative.
Thank you.

Sad to hear about your problem. By considering your history of pain and current situation that you have instability, sever pain and swelling which is worsening. My advice is not to give any strain to your injured knee which will give more inflamatiin and worsen your injury further.
My advice as a precautions until you can get out and consult specialist you can follow this steps.
1. Give complete rest to your knee. Avoid putting any weight on your knee.
2. Do icing for 15 minutes ever...more

If it is complete tear then need anterior drawer test. If is done then acl reconstruction surgery is need. Others wish left football ground.
As a physiotherapist to say you that you need exercise after and before surgery
