I'm a 22 year old male with a torn acl in my right knee. The mobility of this joint is quickly worsening and the swelling/ fluid buildup is gradually increasing despite the use of ibuprofen. I've a history of injuries with my acl including a grade three tear less than two years ago. The joint is giving way and walking four steps isn't possible without assistance from my surroundings or being in an extremely high amount of pain (8 out of 10). I've got a leg brace from my last injury and as I won't be able to see a physio until after the cavity-19, I am wondering if I should use this to provide stability until I can get seen by a specialist?

Sad to hear about your problem. By considering your history of pain and current situation that you have instability, sever pain and swelling which is worsening. My advice is not to give any strain to your injured knee which will give more inflamatiin and worsen your injury further. My advice as a precautions until you can get out and consult specialist you can follow this steps. 1. Give complete rest to your knee. Avoid putting any weight on your knee. 2. Do icing for 15 minutes every 3 hourly. Also it is important to wear a knee brace which you are having from your previous injury for 24 hourly. 3. You can also apply local ointment like diclofenac gel. All so you can continue to take ibuprofen. 4. To reduce swelling you can put pillows under your heel. While sleeping. 5.most important exercise which I can suggest you is a static quadriceps exercise which is most important you might have done in your physio sessions previously previously if you do not remember you can google it. As lockdown get released you can go to specialist for further treatment. Hope this will help you. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Thank you.
