My mother had been diagnosed with sugar in last year initially she had 190 fasting and 220 Pp after that she is taking gluformin xl 1000 after that we did tests after every two months, now the latest fasting is 135 and Pp is 168. My mother also has pacemaker inserted from 2010 and that is fine touchwood by grace of god. Just wanted to know if her latest report suggest that her sugar is under control? And what are the precautions she needs to take? Thanks in advance.

At present her control seems to be a little on a higher side. You have not mentioned since when is she diabetic. She should avoid all forms of sugar carbohydrates fats and do mild exercises whatever her physician permits with pacemaker.

Hello lybrate-user, your mother is diabetic, her fasting at present is on higher side. Along with fasting and pp blood sugar levels you should do HbA1c test which tells her sugar levels past 3 months. Accordingly what should be added or this much is enough it mother's treating physician will decide. She should take small frequent meals and take proper foot care.
