Hi go for an x-ray to know about the extent of your cavity. If pulp is exposed then rct is the only option and if cavity in superficial then you can go fir filling.
Root canal treatment is always a treatment of choice when it is possible to save the tooth.
Dear, firstly go for a radiograph (iopa) for particular tooth then only a dental surgeon can decide whether that tooth is restorable or not. Meanwhile medication can be started for symptomatic relief.
iF the tooth can be saved by rct then go ahead with it because any day your own natural tooth is much better than an artificial tooth which you have to get it done if you remove your tooth.
Cavity in tooth can give pain and infection at times if its not treated in time. Yes a root canal treatment or extraction can b done and it depends on depth and widht of cavity. An xray is must for diagnosis and treatment.
Tooth extraction should be the last option now days rct is a successful procedure.
Only after clinical examination and possibly xray can one decide whether a cavity can be restored with a simple filling or requires a root canal. Tooth extraction is the last option only if no other measures are possible.
