The main cause of white discharge is normal hormone inside the body that increases secretion from glands in vagina. So, some discharge is always there. But if there is associated offensive smell, color and excessive amount or associated pain- then you should not ignore it and consult gynecologist. In general, maintain hygiene, use cotton underwear and use medicated soaps.

Hello, the cause of white discharge just before menses is due to onset of progesterone withdrawal when the levels drop and post menses when the relative levels of oestrogen rises again for fresh cycle. The mucoid discharge is due to increased cervical discharge.
