I got my dental surgery done yesterday where my wisdom tooth was removed after surgery. How long would it take for these stitches to dry. I also have issues with jaw movement as it starts giving pain.
What would recommend me to do during this period. What can I eat during this period. Thank you.
Dear Lybrate User ,
It will take around 5-7 for complete healing , meanwhile you take 5 days antibiotics with some good muscle relaxant. You can eat ice cream or any chilled stuff , soft stuffs to heal it fast.
For any further clinical assistant kindly revert back to me.
It's a normal process for wisdom teeth.
Problems after removing wisdom tooth-
1-swalling 2-reduce .mouth opening
it will be normal in 2-3 days
suters will cut after 7 days of surgery
for further enquiry fell free to call me.
As your surgical extraction is done day before yesterday I would suggest you to eat soft food which should be cold and non-spicy. Do not consume anything that is hot or even warm for that matter. It might be painful. N for your pain while opening the jaw will subside in a week or two. Please have the prescribed dose of medication. And the sutures will take 7 to 8 days to dry.
I hope this information is helpful to you
It may take 7 days to 10 days for suture removal. You may feel during jaw movements for next 5-7 days .you should try to open and close your mouth gentely at regular intervals and rinses with warm saline water. Your diet should be soft and maintain proper oral hygiene in order to avoid secondry infection.
two weeks for complete heal up.
one week to get back to normal mouth opening.
avoid hard food and take soft diet .
gargle with warm salty water four times a day.
take the prescribed drugs and multivitamins.
avoid smoking alcohol or other tobacco products like paan khaini etc.
do not try to open the mouth forcefully.
rest as much as possible and relax.
Hello lybrate-user, pain and discomfort after surgical removal of wisdom tooth is a common finding. Normally the pain & swelling start subsiding after 48 hrs. However complete healing may take 7-10 days. Sutures if non-resorbable are removed after 5-7 days. Take soft semi-solid diet for the time being. Take your medicines as prescribed. Take good care of your oral hygiene by regular brushing & rinsing. Hope this helps, get well soon.
