I am 83 and have tenacious phlegm in the throat in the early morn, which has to be brought out by violent retching while brushing the teeth in the morning. Guidance, please

U need to have mucolytics. Drink plenty of water and steam at leat twice a day for 10 min. Rule out a chest infection. Mucolytics are syrups or tab that make sputum thin and easily brought out.
