Hello, If one has diabetes then most important is to start appropriate treatment with either oral anti-diabetics or Insulin depending upon the severity of hyperglycemia, plus strict dietary control and regular exercise for at least 1 hour a day. Other precautions are- avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, other bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas) and refrain from alcohol and smoking. Dietary intake should match the daily needs based on ideal body weight, extent of exercise and blood glucose levels. As regards medicines there are a large number of them, but the choice depends on the specific needs of a patient. Unless all the details are made known - like fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, height, weight, extent of daily exercise and dietary pattern, there is no way to recommend any medication. Plus in this communication we are supposed to give only general suggestions/guidelines, but no prescriptions. For that one has to come in a private conversation. Thanks.
