He is suffering from end stage liver disease-cirrhosis. Diet needs to very restrictive. Diet high in simple carbohydrates- sago, arrowroot, tapioca, yam, potato, sweet potato, jaggery, honey, sugar, rice; low in protein (all vegetarian protein - no non veg, little curd & pulse can be given), very low fat (only medium chain triglycerides), stewed fruits, soups should be given. All food should be in soft, well cooked form. Feed should be given every 2-3 hrs. Water intake needs to be as per water output. Proper diet along with complete alcohol restriction can help prolong his life.
