Is there any other way to avoid surgery. -if he wants to avoid surgery, he should wear stockings size of grade 2 .stockings are first line of treatment for varicose vein. Its recommended that he should wear it within an hour, after waking up in the morning and it can be removed before going to sleep. There are some medicines which can reduce his leg pain and improve the venous blood flow. For black discoloration of legs - Many vascular surgeons prescribe liquid homoeopathic solution which will reduce black discoloration of skin to some extent, but in many cases black discoloration is permanent. Does postponing surgery lead to any complications further? - yes, if he doesn't wear stocking then it has chances of venous ulcers. To avoid that he should wear stockings. You haven't mentioned the venous doppler report of patient in which condition of SFA junction is mentioned. It indicated whether the surgery is required or not. If you have any more doubts, feel free to consult me.

Stockings won't help now as itvis already grade 3 and blackening had already started. You have 2 choices either to go for Sclerotherapy or laser ablation. Sclerotherapy has much recurrence in future, so laser therapy is the ultimate option remains now. Even you need to have grafting also. For further assistance contact me.
