With creatinine of 9, dialysis is the treatment of choice. It would be better if gets dialysis early as his glomerular filtration rate is only about 6. It should be around 55 to 60 at his age. He will start getting symptoms of renal failure if not already. With dialysis his waste products like creatinine and uric acid will be removed. With the advancement of the disease the waste products accumulated in blood reaches brain and patients start throwing fits, may slip into coma. People fear dialysis but its only a simple and a very important treatment that saves many. You should go to some hospital with dialysis unit, they will insert an internal jugular catheter and will start dialysis. He may need twice or thrice weekly dialysis. If needed for longer periods, an arterio venous fistula will be created (done in ot), commonly known as avf or simply fistula. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to mature. Once the fistula is ready they can use it for dialysis. For more details about dialysis, you can go through my health tips I have tried to simplify it. Last option is transplantation of kidney.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. Well, it would have helped me advise in specific had you had communicated all relevant diagnostics including his current Blood Sugar, BUN levels, Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) etc all too. Given the high serum creatinine levels, its advisable to get this brought down within normal limits asap lest it has damaging effects elsewhere including the vital organs. Should he have lost muscle mass significantly owing to cancer, which depletes creatinine from the skeletal muscles, further degradation of the same needs to be arrested by proper nutrition, and through disease modifying drugs either allopathic (chemo) or suitable alternative medicine as deems contextually appropriate. He needs to stay well hydrated lest his physician has advised him otherwise. Supplements of milk thistle, dandelion and alpha lipoic acid, in suitable doses, are helpful in reducing the build up of high serum creatinine levels. However, the above-mentioned may still require one to undergo immediate hemodialysis to correct the imbalance, and bring it down to acceptable levels. I would advise that you connect and discuss the options out with his oncologist and decide on the way forward quickly. An integrative treatment with alternative medications can improve clinical outcomes. Hope this helps. Do take care and all the very best. Sincerely,
