Mr. Lybrate-user, normal blood glucose levels: fasting 70 to 110 mg, pp <140 mg / 100 ml. Pre - diabetic state: fasting 108 to 125 mg, pp 141 to 199 mg/ 100 ml, hba1c% 5.9 to 6.4% confirmed diabetes: fbs 126 mg and above, pp 200 mg and above /100 ml, hba1c%6. Hence your fasting level qualifies to be in confirmed diabetes, but pp is showing a pre-diabetes state. Better to get a hba1c%, which can give a clearer picture. Or another method is to get an ogtt (oral glucose tolerance test), gold standard. Thanks.

A fasting blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/l) is considered as normal. Fasting blood sugar level between 100 to 125 mg/dl (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/l) is the condition called prediabetes. If it is 126 mg/dl (7 mmol/l) or higher on two separate tests, you have diabetes. In your case, your fasting level confirms that you have diabetes but pp is showing a pre-diabetes state. Get a hba1c% test to get it confirmed.
