There is something called intermittent fasting, which is fasting for 14 to 16 hours (from the time you have your dinner to the next days 1st meal) with water or black tea or black coffee or lime juice without sugar or any fluids without sugar. When you break your fast you are supposed to eat very healthy, like vegetables and proteins. This kind of fasting can be done once a week. In this kind of fast you are not spiking your insulin and blood sugar so your sugars are well regulated. But if you eat all kind of junk on breaking the fast, then this fast is of no use.
