I am 45 years old male. I am suffering from Paronychia (infection of nails) in my right hand thumb for more than six months. Allopathic medicine amoxicillin helps to give only temporary relief and that too when taken in high doses (1500 mg/day). Such high doses cause extreme side effects like extreme dizziness, and so I cannot take continuously. Please suggest alternate remedy.

Paronychia (infection of tissue fold around nail) is usually a result of co infection of bacteria and fungus. In this condition anly amoxicillin (antibiotic) that also without clavulinate, may not give complete relief. You need a combination of antibiotic and anti fungal medications. For that a detailed history and physical and laboratory investigations may be needed. I may advice you to consult your physician. Thank you.
