A dog bite me on 25th april evening 8 pm. I have prescribed to take anti rabies vaccination of 5 doses on the same day for category 3 bite. I have taken 1st dose on the same day but while asked for anti rabies serum injection, doctor didn't prescribed me as I have taken full course of 5 doses 16 years back when a dog scratches me. Please give your opinion about treatment.

Protection (after rabies vaccination) is tested in laboratory by virus neutralising antibody (rvna) titre which should be 5 iu/ml of serum in the vaccinated person, which is considered protective. If titre is found lower, booster dose of tissue culture vaccine is given. There are only 5 centres where this test is done. One is at nicd - delhi. Your query and response are more academic. Always consult proper physician for clarification.
