I am 19 year old boy. My blood and urine test was done this week because I was having cough problems. Hemoglobin levels were 17.8, I guess which is considered higher. I smoke once a week, is that the reason for higher levels in hemoglobin and if yes what can I do to prevent it?

Long term smoking can raise hemoglobin levels so the best thing for you to do would be to stop smoking. Smoking has many ill effects on all the organs of the body, so do consider a change in habit.

Smoking once a week does not cause such changes. You will need further investigations to find out the accurate cause.
