Cancer is usually detected at a very late stage when it is almost incurable. Can it be detected in the beginning? if yes please advise the procedure /tests.

For males screening prostate cancer after the age of 50 years, which includes yearly psa and rectal digital examination. For females screening for breast and cervical cancer should be done. Breast screening includes self breast examination, examination by surgeon and mammography. For carcinoma cervix examination by gynecologist and pap smear. Otherwise in asymptomatic person- yearly physical check up and routine blood counts, u/s abdomen etc. In symptomatic patient investigation should depends on symptomatology.
