Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your wife's eye problem. Myopia is a condition of the eye characterized by a minus number which may vary. Usually in moderate to high degrees of myopia, there may occur certain conditions of the retina that tend to affect the vision adversely. Cnvm is also known as choroidal neovascular membrane. It occurs due to a growth of vessels and a membrane like network from the layer beneath the retina. This growth may extend into the retina and cause visual loss. When detected in the early stages, it is usually curable by therapy with intravitreal injections of anti vascular endothelial growth factor substances. Once, the cnvm reaches a stage of scarring (the last stage of wound healing) it no longer remains amenable to treatment with injections. One scarred, injections no longer help in recovering vision. To summarize, I would suggest: (1) low vision aid devices if the vision is very low. (2) antioxidant rich diet (3) regular follow up with retina specialist. (4) not to give you hope, there are chances in future that surgical options may come up for scarred cnvm. They are already in investigation stage. Hope my suggestions helped-
