An optical defect, which results in the formation of distorted images is known as Astigmatism. This optical condition prevails due to the inability of the optics to focus at a common point. As a result, multiple focus points occur that cause a blurred/hazy vision. Irregular shape of the cornea (corneal astigmatism) or the distorted shape of the lenses (lenticular astigmatism) are the two causes of this condition. Through the use of torrid lenses and refractive surgery, astigmatism can be corrected.
