Hye. Just a rise in the serum potassium levels may not indicate breakdown of rbc when blood was taken for test (need to repeat test in that case), excessive muscle breakdown due to many factors, too much supplementation, kidney disorders, dehydration, alcoholism etc. You need to correlate with other parameters and signs to give a more accurate diagnosis. Abnormal potassium levels may cause symptoms such as muscle cramps or weakness, nausea, diarrhea, frequent urination, dehydration, low blood pressure, confusion, irritability, paralysis, and changes in heart rhythm.
