I wanted to know that as an Indian, how many eggs is it okay to eat in a day? Is it okay to eat two whole eggs a day, or two egg whites and one yolk? Should you eat eggs everyday?

I wanted to know that as an Indian, how many eggs is it okay to eat in a day? Is it okay to eat two whole eggs a day,...
Hi. Thanks for the query. How many eggs you can eat in a day totally depends on your dietary habits, lipid profile, blood glucose levels, stress levels and activity levels. Based on all these factors will depend if you can eat 1 or 2 eggs a day or 3 eggs a week or no eggs. If you are healthy in all parameters eating an egg thrice a week should not trouble you. Also if you have any intolerance then again that will determine the amount you can eat. So get your diet activity and blood parameters get tested to understand if there could be an issue with eating eggs.

Remedies For Burp

Remedies For Burp

Burping, also known as belching or eructation, is one of the ways your body expels excessive gas from the stomach.
Although burping is a natural bodily function at times it can be severe due to poor digestion of food, malabsorption, intolerance, ulcers or gastric disorders.
Definitely your diet, lifestyle and stress levels need to be worked on but here are some remedies to help reduce the severity of burping-

▪Have ginger, mint or chamomile herbal tea 2 to 3 times a day.
▪Chew about 2 pods of green cardamom (elaichi) 2 to 3 times a day.
▪Chew 1/2 a teaspoon of fennel seeds (sauf/badisop)
▪Have a cup of buttermilk with a pinch of asafoetida (hing).

Hye. Thankyou for your query. There’s no overnight fix when it comes to healthy weight loss, but you can adjust your lifestyle to promote quick, natural weight loss for the benefit of your health and your appearance. Successful, long-term weight management needs to focus on more than the food you eat and the pounds you lose. It needs to focus on your overall health. Reshape your body and your lifestyle by adopting healthy habits and breaking unhealthy ones. Replace all processed foods in your diet with vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy, lean meats, eggs, legumes, nuts, seeds and seafood. Focus on the variety of whole, unprocessed foods you can eat instead of dwelling on the junk food you eliminated from your diet. Eat smaller portions at every meal and avoid going back for seconds. Take a smaller scoop of rice, half of a piece of chicken instead of a whole piece and one less egg in your morning omelet, for example. Make time for breakfast every morning. Eating breakfast helps prevent overeating and is a habit of people who successfully lose weight. Pack to-go meals instead of eating convenience foods when you’re not home. Store foods like chopped fruits and vegetables or cooked grains, legumes, eggs and meats in your refrigerator so you always have something to grab when you’re in a rush. Buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the grocery store if you forget to bring healthful food from home. When you can’t avoid dining at a restaurant, opt for a salad as a starter, and always ask for the dressing on the side. Clear soups, lean meats, seafood and grain-based dishes like roti, whole grain bread are other good choices. Exercise for 30 to 60 minutes at least three times per week to build muscle and burn more calories. Pilates, strength training, aerobics, swimming, dancing and yoga or a sport like football are ideal choices. If you’re new to exercising, start with brisk walking and jogging. Adopt physically demanding hobbies like bicycling, hiking, jogging, power walking to promote faster weight loss. If you don’t have time for new hobbies, increase your physical activity with things like walking the dog, playing with the kids or jogging instead of driving to a nearby store or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Height gain is a bit difficult now but with good exercise and diet you can try to manage height and with postural improvement look taller.

Is apple cider vinegar is helpful for fat loss? If yes. How to use it for fat loss? please suggest.

Hi, Thanks for the query. But no food works in isolation. If your diet and exercise is not good then no amount of apple cider vinegar can help you. Take the help of a qualified dietician to help you plan a good diet for weight loss. Apple cider vinegar can be an adjunct to the therapy. Also note that not all may tolerate it so observe before deciding on taking it.

My 5 year kid is under weight. She is very active, playing for 3-4 hrs everyday. But eats very less food. I am giving dry fruits (3-4 Cashews, 2 Almonds, 1-2 Dates, 4-5 Pista) & some fruits (banana, guava, apple) every day evening & egg at night & fish/meat once in a week? Can you suggest any change in diet?

Hye, Thanks for the query. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help. If your child is active and playful and can concentrate in studies then no need to panic, with good diet and indulging in play or sport will help him gain weight.

Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite. Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial.

Hi, Can I take vitamin e capsules everyday without Doctor prescription? Is there no side effects.

Hi. Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that supplements or medication are taken only if you are deficient in a nutrient or your requirement is high or you have a medical condition that calls for the supplementation. So, don't goggle medicate yourself. Get yourself assessed by a doctor or Dietician and see if you need supplementation.

Sir I am 23 years old and I have belly. I try crunches and walking to reduce it but it can't so please give me diet and some list of exercises to reduce belly within 1 year.

Hye. Thank you for your query. The pinchable fat you see is belly fat, also known as subcutaneous fat which increases due to bad food habits and sedentary lifestyle. While you can accumulate this type of fat by eating more calories than your body burns, there's a genetic and hormonal connection as well. Too much fat is harmful for the body. A diet filled with refined carbs, such as white bread packaged foods and junk, snack foods, is associated with increased subcutaneous belly fat. Thirty minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise -- like a fast-paced walk or low-impact aerobics -- most days of the week helps you lose the belly flab. Alos, don't forget strength-training. You can't spot reduce, but you can tone and tighten your belly. While crunches and planks can help the abdominal area, include exercises that work all your major muscles -- arms, back, shoulders, glutes and legs is import for balance. Making the right food choices can also help you lose subcutaneous fat. Just cutting down food intake randomly or crashing diet is not going to solve the problem. Be sensible with food intake. Limit your intake of the refined carbs linked to belly fat. So, skip the white bread, packaged cereals, sugary cereals, biscuits, sweets and soda, and, instead, eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Enjoy healthy sources of protein such as poultry, lean beef, fish, eggs, soy, beans, low-fat dairy, and fats such as vegetable oil, nuts and seeds. Eating healthy foods is critical to reduce belly fats.

Transformation

Transformation

When you decide to work on your health- rememeber- it's not just about weight loss or lowering blood sugar or letting go of the post pregnancy weight but it's about a whole "transformation".

  • It's transformation in your thinking, in your relationship to food, in your trust in yourself and in your choice to improve your whole lifestyle.
  • When you have achieved your goal, learn to accept the different new you and love the transformation. Let your new self be a reminder that every transformation takes work, effort, patience, and continued motivation and discipline to become your best 'You'.
  • Know, that this transformation is also a reminder that nothing lasts forever. A complacent- Let it go attitude, loss of motivation or a single slip that's turned into a daily affair of giving in to temptation are all ways to push you back where you started.
  • Remind yourself what you were or how you felt before you started and how you are now - the best of 'You'.
  • Remind yourself that it didn't happen overnight.
  • Remind yourself that you did not attempt to take the seemingly easy road to your destination.
  • And most of all remind yourself how it may have not been easy...but it has been totally worth it.
  • So, don't let go...don't give in to complacency or temptation and if you get off track, remind yourself that you can as soon get back onto it.
