I got infection on my face and neck. After few days my face and neck area turned blackish with patches. Now after 4 months it's reduced a bit. My skin doctor given me anti oxidant and betnesol forte. Is it really required to take steroid or any other remedies rlare there? I scare of its side effects.

Hello lybrate-user, so glad to know you are aware of steroid side effects. Usually dermatologists will give it for a few days a week if long term to limit any side effects. There are some skin diseases that leave black patches and steroids may be required. If you are worried about steroid side effects, you can ask your dermatologist to change to some other medicine. Best wishes.

That depends on what caused the pigmentation n if it really is an infection. Unlikely that the doctor started you on steroid for an infection. Better confirm with your doctor.
