I am a 41 year old woman and have been detected with:- diffuse osteopenia with degenerative changes in the lumbar spine. - significant sclerosis of opposing end plates at l2-3 and l3-4 levels with irregularly reduced disc spaces. - mild reduction in the height of l3 vertebral bod? does this require surgical intervention? @homeo - can homeo heal this?

Osteopenia is more common in older age and may occur in females after menopause. It refers to reduced density of the bone and may occur to due to disorders that affect bone mineral deposition. It is advisable to consult physician/orthopedician to ascertain the cause for the disorder. The degenerative changes, sclerosis at end plates, and irregular disc spaces could be some of the compensatory phenomena that body tries, to accommodate the disorder. My recommendation would be for you to follow up with your physician for detailed evaluation and discuss medical/surgical options appropriate to your need. Walking regularly as tolerated is a good preventive measure, but kindly discuss with your physician/physiotherapist prior to starting a new regimen.
