Can you get rabies from petting a stray cat? I pet a stray cat yesterday at 10.30 p.m. The cat looked ok, it did not bite or scratch me, there was no blood or saliva contact, but the fur of cat was slightly wet. 10 mins after I sanitized my hands. My hands do not seem to have any visible cuts or wounds on them. The upper side of my hand near fingernail has some old skin peel (no visible cut or open skin). Should I get rabies shots.
