I am having light redness in my left eye with light watery discharge, itching and sometimes blur vision. Nd very light redness nd itching in right eye. Its happening from last 3-4 days. Specially in morning wen I wakeup eyes are red then after sometimes all the symptoms subside rest of the day. I was on doxrid 5 days course for mild cough nd cold which finished yesterday. Start using eyemist eye drops from yesterday morning one one drop thrice a day. Kindly suggest is it because of medicine (doxrid) I hv taken as I am sulpha salt allergic, or bcz of ny infection as I hv used old eye drop few days back, or ny other reason. Kindly suggest is it something serious in this?

At present take warm water nd add salt 1/4 th tsp. Take a ball of cotton nd wash hour eyes slowly. You may call back for more details nd for homeopathy medicine.

Hello. Doxycycline is not a sulpha drug, so do not worry about an allergic reaction. Your symptoms can be due to either old drops usage or some infection. Any eye or ear drop should not be used after 1 month of breaking the seal. Mostly all drops contain preservatives and other substances with are sensitive to outside environment and hence get altered after opening. One experiences redness and a burning sensation on instilling them. Yet at the same time it is very important to rule out any kind of infection first. Diagnosis can not be made for certain without having a look at your eye first. A photograph of the affected eye will be helpful. Both conditions will require treatment, meanwhile continue using eyemist eye drops 4 times a day. Consult for further queries and treatment plan. Hope this helps. Thank you.

So any drops should not be used after 1 month of breaking the seal. There might be some kind of infection too, which has to be ruled out first. Both conditions will require treatment. But before that an eye doctor has to look at your eyes first. A photograph will be great help. Meanwhile continue using eyemist drops four times a day. It may be due to cold infection or any contact infection, you can take homeo medicine rhus tox 30 thrice daily for five days, and euphrasia lotion 2 drops twice daily if itching is more, can take urtica uren 3x 4 drops twice daily after food.
