I recently developed hives on my body. (reason unknown) and doctor prescribed allegra 180 mg for 3 days. I felt better for 3 days and 4th and 5th even after stopping the tablet intake. 6th day I started developing hives again although not severe like before. I used milk powder for tea and nothing new was taken. What could be the cause and what should I do? I don't want to take allegra as I don't want to make it a habit. Please advise.

Dear user, the allergy is caused by a reaction to either food, pollen, dust, seasonal etc. The medications have to be taken to reduce the allergy until the factor causing the allergy is identified prevented. Once the prevention has taken place, the allergy will reduce and the anti- allergic meds can be stopped. The most important factor is identifying the allergen causing the allergy.
