Whenever I chop raw onions, my eyes always sting and tear up, as everyone else's. However, sometimes in addition to this, I also experience a strange sensation in my gut and throat which feels like something is stuck and needs to come out, either by vomiting or sneezing. It is difficult to explain the sensation because I don't get nauseous or get a tickly nose, however it still feels like I need to vomit or sneeze. I also feel like I experience gerd after this happened. The gerd feels like excess saliva in my throat. Why do I experience this when chopping raw onions? Is it normal? I have eaten onions all my life, raw and cooked. The worst thing I get from them is some bloating at times. But I have only experienced the above weird sensations when purely just smelling the raw onions a few times before.
