Hi I had giddiness or pressure head aches induced by digital light or sound sensitivity, while travelling by car, and swaying if I walk for long, it was diagnosed as bppv / vestibular migraine. I was given sibelium 5 mg for 3 month and all the problems stopped in 20 days with a side effect of weight gain. After 6 months the symptoms started again then I was prescribed toptrimat. Please advice these tablets have to be taken all the time to prevent migraine? As I am worried about the new side effects. Please advice a medicine that is not harmful or have any bad side effects to prevent migraines.

Thank you for contacting us. Sibelium has a side effect of weight gain and you have been rightlh prescribed topiramate for the same. Usually migraine medications are to be continued for a few months, only to be tapered off when you are experiencing no headache attacks for a continous period. If symptoms are not subsiding on medications, injections like botox inside facial muscles can be tried.
