My baby is 18 months old. She is not talking yet. But she understands every thing what ever I told. She is showing all body parts with signs. But my worry is all are asking me why she is not talking. Near by my home 11months baby is talking. Why she is not talking. Is she requires speech therapy. She is pronouncing only that, papa, mama, nanna.

Hi lybrate-user kids usually start using 1 word from the age 1 year, and they start speaking in 2-3 word sentence by the age two. Some achieve it early some achieve it little late. It shouldn't be a concern if kid is already active and can understand and act on what is said, also like you have said she is pronouncing papa, mama. This is a good progress, and I believe she will soon surprise you with sentences as she approaches her 2nd birthday. Motivate her to demand things instead of providing things before she asks for it. Sometimes if kids get what they want without speaking up for it, what is the need to speak? I hope that helps. All the best!
