Can a lipase value go from critically high (194 with lab range of 7-60 u/ml) to well within range (271 at er with range of 93-393 u/l) in 24 hours? The first lab says they ran it twice. I asked my sister and friend, one an icu nurse and another a cardiac nurse and nurse manager of a state health wellness program for kids) and my mom, a nicu nurse, and they all said no. My ct was normal. I?m getting my labs redrawn and talking to my gp, but don?t know if this can even happen. I?m worried.

Cholecystitis, an infection of the gallbladder, may cause lipase levels to rise. Lipase levels may also be elevated in people who have an intestinal blockage. Identification of actual cause may help to control it. You may need to discuss it further over a call for a better and effective medical consultation. Thanks.
