Myoclonic seizure is a short lived, shock like jerking or twitching of a single or a group of muscles. It is characterized by alternating contraction and relaxation of muscles. Myoclonic seizures usually last for about 1 to 2 minutes. Sometimes, there may be multiple episodes within a short span of time. Multiple episodes of myoclonic seizures within a short span of time may indicate the commencement of another kind of seizure called as tonic-clonic seizure. Everyone?s recovery from seizures is different. Some people can return to normal daily activities quickly. Others need more time to recover.
