Hello, dental filling can be sensitive or painful depending on the depth of the cavity. But you do not have to worry as if the cavity is deep dentist will numb the area and than do the filling. Initially the materials were not that advanced so we use to prefer doing filling in one side of the mouth so that patient can bite from the other side but nowadays using composite many cavities can be filled in a single sitting itself. Thanks.

Its not at all painfull. All the teeth requiring filling can be filled at the same time if you are comfortable to open your mouth for that long & if the dentist can do that. Otherwise no harm in multiple sittings also.
