Do generic medicines good for diabetic patients. My parents diabetes is not in control after glimestar m2 twice a day with fbs of 167 and 200. Is it because of generic medicines. They are known diabetic for past 10 years. Please reply.

To give a clear answer I need to know the following: 1)which is the earlier brand of glimiperide + metformin combination was being used? At that time what were fasting & pp levels as well as hba1c%? 2) since when generic drugs are bing used? How often blood glucose is being checked after changing the tablets (brands or generics)? 3) has there been any change in the routines of the patients in terms of diet, exercise etc? Because in my clinic many patients do use generic form of glimiperide+ metformin combination and are getting similar glucose control like earlier. Thanks.
