Hope you are referring to white to yellow hard calculus deposits on your teeth. These are nothing but the food particles and the food debris that have accumulated over time on your teeth. Your saliva normally contains various minerals. The minerals in the saliva get deposited on those food particles that have accumulated quite long. This causes the soft food debris to become hard and mineralised forming a cement like layer along your gum line and this is called calculus. Calculus once formed cannot be cleaned by manual brushing and can be done only by professional cleaning from a dentist. Proper oral hygiene helps in prevention of calculus formation. Never brush your teeth using horizontal strokes. Brush using vertical strokes for your front teeth and circular strokes along the gums for your back teeth. If you have any gaps between your teeth or teeth that are not properly aligned flossing daily with the dental floss would also be of help.
