Hi doctors. I interact with stray dogs on a regular basis (that don't appear obviously rabid of course). I come in contact with the saliva sometimes and clean myself up with sanitizer that I always carry. However, I once consulted with my GP regarding this and the doctor asked me to have a proper discussion to ensure if I need vaccines. Now I was once attacked by a stray cat in 2005 because of which I had to take injections for possible post exposure. My GP concluded I do not have anything to worry about. I just need to confirm if it's alright to continue to interact with stray dogs and cats and in my knowledge the injections I received back in 2005 we're basically vaccines and are supposed to last a lifetime- since rabies is an ultimately fatal disease and I'm no doctor, so can never be too sure. Thanks!
